Allo, so on Monday night I went to
Church on Spin street where my friend
Yang Zhao was hosting the opening night of her
Beijing Opera Dim Sum pop-up dinners. The dinners (and lunches) will last until Friday the 21st, so that's two more days y'all. Apparently the dinners are already fully booked, sorry skat. However, for all you dim sum junkies out there, good news is that they don't take bookings for lunch so first come first served, or you can grab a take-away. The pop-up dinners are the first events leading up to
The Secret Festival (formerly Toffie Secret Food Festival) which will take place at the Spier end October. Best you
follow the link and find out about the festival, I went to check out last year's one and it was brilliant, especially for food junkies like me. I also wrote a piece on the upcoming festival for the August issue Woolies Taste magazine, if you can still get your hands on that issue, it's a good way to find out what to expect, and there's also a piece in the same issue about Yang and her dim sum. Lastly, a quick shout out to Yang for a brilliant Monday evening, and a side eye for the muthaphukka of a hangover that I woke up with on Tuesday morning.
