Yesterday was the very first day of our first menswear week ever!!! Where to start, I'm super excited, especially with regards to the young designers featured on this post. I feel like, not only are they so now in terms of the colours, prints and shapes that they are working with, but they all also put their own spin on it. I'm talking mainly about Lukhanyo Mdingi, Rich Mnisi, Jenevieve Lyons and Augustine. But check for yourself in the pics below skattie. Last night I felt like their ranges alone have already justified having a menswear week, instead of having menswear as a side dish at primarily womenswear fashion weeks. For the event itself, the organisers have repurposed the Breakwater parking lot at the V&A waterfront. It's hot as fuck and the shows were a bit late, but at this stage I'm just grateful that the organisers not only saw the opportunity for a local menswear but also that they went out there and actually made it happen, and I'm more than happy to sweat in celebration of our menswear design talent.
