Weird how my last couple of nature vibes getaways seem to
always be on the same weekend as Joburg fashion week, funny timing that.
Anyway, some of you who have been around these parts for a while might know I
love Western Cape outdoorsy nature vibes and the inevitable corny pics that
follow. So here comes another one to enjoy or hate. As always, if you don’t
enjoy that kinda stuff, chill, the fashion/art events will come again.
This past Saturday
was Athi’s birthday, so the two of us
decided to roadtrip it and spend the weekend at De Hoop Nature Reserve, which
is a four hour drive from Cape Town. We stayed in cute little rondavels right
on the edge of a 19km long vlei. Fucking awesome and so tranquil, amazing
birdlife and animals, some of which are on the endangered species list, all
chilling, grazing free range like. I must say though there was a moment where
it was weird to have no tv/radio/internet, and to hear nothing but birds and
Zebras. Awesome getaway though, and a brilliant way to recover from Friday
night’s madness at the International R-Kelly Day (#IRKD) party we went to on
Friday night. Learnt something new, second Friday of March every year is IRKD.
You live and learn. And oh obviously I’ve now got a replacement camera for the
one I lost last weekend, so yay I can get back to shooting again.
AND THE FRIDAY NIGHT BEFORE AT THE INTERNATIONAL R KELLY DAY PARTY AT A CLUB IN TOWN. CAN'T RECALL THE CLUB'S NAME AT THIS MOMENT
