AN ALMOST RANDOM MIX OF BEAUTIFUL THINGS /// ART, ACCESSORIES & A PARTY

I am not sure if you'll remember, but a coupla weeks ago i mentioned that i had a few pics from around art fair week that i wanted to publish, but i kept getting distracted by more fashion-type pics/posts and ended up posting those first. Anyway, now I've finally sat down and put those pics together, making this the most delayed post ever on this blog, as the pics were taken a month ago. I know, take me to the guillotine now, off with my head, how dare i feed you stale food by posting a month later? Soz boo, but you'll live, and besides they're as pretty now as the day they were shot. s'tru s'bob. Enjoy.

FINNIN FO DIM SUM /// AT THE OPENING OF YANG ZHAO'S BEIJING OPERA

Last Thursday we had major cause to celebrate, one of my oldest and dearest friends in Cape Town, Yang, opened up Beijing Opera, her new Dim Sum bar. Some of you may already be familiar with Beijing Opera, as she has been running it as a pop up bar at different venues in Cape Town and in Joburg for the last couple of years. Well, she's finally got a permanent address at the State Building, No. 3-9 Rose Street in the Waterkant, nestled between the city and the gay village (well, used to be the gay village. str8 people make everything worse. smh). Anyway, i took these pics last Thursday at the opening party which was packed full of pretty yung thangs finnin for that dim sum. Beijing Opera officially opened for business yesterday (Tuesday), and will be opened everyday from 10-5pm, except Mondays and Sundays. But keep an ear close to the ground, as Yang will also host evening events from time to time.

SATURDAY. GROOT CONSTANTIA. STIAAN LOUW, KIM GUSH, THE LITTLE HATTERY & MORE

This past Saturday I went to check out Fashion in the Forest, an annual fashion event initiated back in 2012. Five designers and brands were invited to showcase their latest collections for 'Winter/Spring 2014' (is that really a thing? like the seasons mixed up to suit our climate maybe? Dunno). The five were: Stiaan Louw, Rachel de Mardt, Kim Gush, DUSUD, Inner secrets lingerie for lux lingerie and swimwear brands. The Inner secrets show collaborated with milliners The Little Hattery to show off hat designs along with the lacy bits.

I really enjoyed the menswear, as usual these days. Sometime not so long ago menswear got interesting, designers and rappers have been running with it ever since. yay. Now now, please skattie i know some of you are super bright fashion nerds who've immersed themselves in every range ever created, like even Sister Bucks' most obscure work, and these days all you ever see are the references when looking at other people's shows, and you just can't wait to tell which bits you've seen before and by who. But take a seat please, just enjoy it, love some, hate some. It's Fashion in the Forest. Well, Groot Constantia wine farm to be exact, but hey, I agree, Fashion in the Forest sounds far more appealing that Fashion on the Farm. Anyway, as i was saying, it's a fashion show. in the forest. Chill and enjoy. I for one found quite a lotta pieces i want in my life. The moments below were the most fun for me.
